On December 7, 2009, the Burke/Springfield Senior Center Without Walls (BSSCWoW) was honored with a Recognition Ceremony by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. Honored were the three faith communities that sponsored the 2009 BSSCWoW pilot programs — Accotink Unitarian Universalist Church, Durga Temple, and Burke United Methodist Church,
as well as instructors Susie Thomas for line dancing and Kris Brinker for Tai Chi.

Senior Center Without Walls Supporters
The Board of Supervisors will recognize the leadership of Accotink Unitarian Universalist Church, Burke United Methodist Church and Durga Temple for being the first organizations to support the Senior Center Without Walls. The Senior Center Without Walls is a public-private partnership among the residents of Burke, West Springfield, Fairfax Station, local businesses, places of worship and Fairfax County Government. It was created to provide a variety of programs, activities and services to older adults in this community. Also recognized were the instructors – Susie Thomas for line dancing and Kris Brinker for tai chi.
