Workshop Content

August 18: Push Hands, the first of Taiji’s three two-person exercises.
We will examine the shape, structure and ‘the game’ the Grasp Sparrow’s Tail exercise. Using just the four postures of Push Hands we will explore the traditional exercise and uncover the purpose of the light, four-ounce touch.

August 25: Ti-Fang, the soft uprooting method unique to Tai Chi. This session will explore the subtle technique that allows “4 ounces to deflect a thousand pounds”. Using drills and practical tests, students will gain a deeper understanding of the substance and function that is built into Tai Chi’s two-person exercises and the form—literally no speed, no strength and a light, four-ounce touch.
